Position Overview

The Sr. Project Engineer will support construction activities by planning, organizing, and implementing management duties such as project controls systems, engineering interface, subcontract and materials management, purchasing, and scheduling. The role will provide project administration or support for larger projects and manage technical and administrative staff to facilitate instruction management services.

Location

This position will be based out of Oakville, ON. Remote options will not be considered.

Responsibilities
  1. Develop a complete understanding of contract plans and specifications for the assigned work.
  2. Examine/inspect field conditions, identify problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures, and take corrective actions.
  3. Inspect subordinates' work for compliance with contract plans and specifications, point out deficiencies, and explain and take corrective actions.
  4. Develop and maintain the project master schedule using appropriate techniques and scheduling software.
  5. Manage document control, receive and log in new issue drawings and other contract documents, and maintain document control log.
  6. Prepare monthly cost projections and quarterly cash flow projections.
  7. Improve project operations by recommending better methods, staffing, and procedural changes.
  8. Act as managing project engineer/coordinator on multiple projects, providing supervision and on-the-job training for lower-level engineers.
  9. Read and understand plans and specifications, visualize two-dimensional drawings in three dimensions.
  10. Manage and support project team including direct reports and others as needed.
  11. Help drive the company's environmental health and safety programs at the project level.
Qualifications

Education: Bachelor’s degree in a construction-related field or equivalent experience and education in project or field engineering.
Experience: 7+ years in construction or engineering field, with a minimum of 2 years on Nuclear related construction projects.
Skills: Leadership, communication (verbal and written), planning, organization, delegation, teaching, and mentoring.
Other Requirements: Regular, reliable attendance; work productively and meet deadlines timely; communicate effectively; perform work safely and effectively; work during normal operating hours and overtime/weekends as required; may work at various locations with varying conditions.
