P osition Summary:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Lands and Resources, the Forestry Coordinator will support the Moose Cree First Nation (MCFN) Lands and Resources department in monitoring resource development activities proposed or occurring within the MCFN Homelands. Primarily, the incumbent will act as a liaison between MCFN and industry proponents and others on forestry matters. The incumbent will work closely with department staff and others in developing recommendations and strategies that are aligned with any current and future MCFN land use interests, community practices, values and priorities.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary education in the natural sciences and/or forestry would be an A combination of education or training and experience will be considered.
  • Familiar with forestry operations and forest management planning would be an asset
  • Knowledge of the local Cree culture, community and ability to speak Cree would be an asset.
  • Experience working with First Nations preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • High level of organization and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated research and analytical skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
  • Ability to work under minimum supervision and in a team environment.
  • Must be willing to travel.
  • Willing to work outside normal work hours as required.
  • Must provide a satisfactory CPIC or proof of application.
  • Valid class G driver’s license is required.

Duration: One-year term with possibility of extension
