Position: Plant Engineer

Exciting Permanent opportunity for an experienced Plant Engineer at a prominent Biopharmaceutical manufacturing facility based in West Dublin.

The ideal candidate must have relevant maintenance engineering within the Pharmaceutical Industry, with a strong preference for prior experience in an FDA-approved site.

Responsibilities & Duties

The candidate will be responsible for providing effective and efficient maintenance of all Process, Utilities, Facilities and Tank Farm equipment including machine troubleshooting, investigations of major breakdowns and technical improvement activities while meeting regulatory, quality and safety requirements. The role will also include the following areas:

Equipment Maintenance

– Act as the primary Technical Expert for designated areas, responsible for troubleshooting, investigating major breakdowns, and conducting technical improvement activities.
– Lead root cause analyses into equipment failures, identify corrective actions, and contribute insights for CapEx projects from an equipment maintenance standpoint.
– Manage and enhance maintenance programs and operating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure optimal equipment performance.
– Implement the latest methodologies in reliability-centered, predictive maintenance, and condition monitoring tools to continuously improve equipment maintenance practices.
– Provide necessary support beyond regular hours as needed to meet business requirements.
Continuous Improvement Strategies
– Utilize operational excellence tools to drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability.
– Manage internal service levels associated with maintenance activities and focus on meeting targeted Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) each year, with specific emphasis on Quality, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), and Work Order performance.
Collaboration and Compliance
– Engage with other sites to share best practices and learning experiences.
– Oversee the Maintenance Appraisal Process and conduct Failure Mode Effects Analyses (FMEA) on critical equipment.
– Assist in implementing operational excellence programs like Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) and 5S.
– Ensure meticulous documentation of all maintenance activities in compliance with Good Documentation Practice (GDP) within the site’s maintenance management system.
– Ensure full compliance with cGMP, with specific attention to training, spare parts management, change control, and SOP adherence.
Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Responsibilities
– Ensure strict compliance with all relevant EHS legal and legislative requirements while actively promoting and supporting EHS initiatives across the site.
– Foster a safety-oriented culture within the designated area, ensuring adherence to safe work practices and standard operating procedures by both staff and external maintenance personnel.
– Investigate all accidents/incidents promptly and ensure effective corrective and preventive actions are implemented to avoid recurrence.
– Conduct regular monitoring of GMP and EHS compliance through active presence on the shop floor and take corrective actions where necessary.
Cost Management
– Manage maintenance spend effectively, reporting actual expenditure versus the allocated budget.
– Strategically plan maintenance activities, particularly biannual shutdowns, while collaborating with project engineering and customer groups to minimize non-productive time.
– Oversee site energy spend and drive activities aimed at energy reduction.
– Implement cost-effective maintenance strategies to guarantee equipment, support systems, and utilities availability aligned with manufacturing unit requirements.
– Drive initiatives to improve asset utilization, reduce downtime, optimize spare parts inventory, and eventually decrease maintenance expenses arising from breakdowns.

Requirements

– Engineering Degree or equivalent qualification.
– 5 years+’ hands-on Experience in maintenance engineering within the Pharmaceutical Industry.
– Experience on Process, facilities, utilities, maintenance or/& project experience including Process abatement systems, HVAC, Purified water, Clean Steam, Refrigeration, Freeze Dryer maintenance, liquid waste management/processing within the pharmaceutical industry.
