You'll ensure everything stays powered up and running smoothly, from machinery to welding equipment. Your expertise will keep the team productive and the workshop hummingOverall Function:The Electrical Service Technician reports to the plant manager and is responsible for the debugging, installation, and startup of existing or new metalworking equipment, including electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control systems. You'll also ensure the accuracy of equipment documentation, obtaining and updating preventative maintenance records, and keeping technical manuals and schematics up-to-date for efficient equipment service.Major Responsibilities:Maintain, modify, and install new electrical systems and production equipment.Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment malfunctions, ensuring control and safety measures function properly. Collaborate with OEMs as needed.Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the maintenance team, benchmarking best practices and driving continuous improvement.Initiate purchase orders for equipment, parts, and materials for production and facility needs. Manage critical spare parts and maintenance inventories.Perform emergency and scheduled repairs on production equipment, including CNC machines, welding equipment, presses, and more.Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to complete required maintenance and service.Conduct preventive maintenance on machinery, equipment, and facilities (both electrical and simple mechanical), including dust collector systems, air compressors, and spray booths. Outsource maintenance when necessary.Support maintenance and operational needs, implementing preventive maintenance programs and maintaining records in a CMMS and ESA logbook.Design, install, replace, and repair electrical components like lighting fixtures, control equipment, distribution panels, switches, relays, and circuit breakers.Maintain, repair, test, and install electrical motors, hydraulics, pneumatics, control systems, sensors, and variable frequency drives.Possess familiarity with electrical power distribution system equipment.Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain basic control networks.Analyze plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirements, repair sequences, installations, budgeting, design, scheduling, and procurement.Experience troubleshooting Allen Bradley, Siemens, Omron, Sick, and safety PLCs is preferred.Ability to work effectively within a team environment.Regulatory:Ensure strict adherence to safety rules and procedures.Comply with all relevant legal requirements and local governing laws.Possess knowledge of applicable electrical codes (Ontario), standards, and regulations.Shift: Day Shift (Monday to Friday) – (07:00 am – 4:00 pm)Education:College degree/diploma/program in Electro-mechanical engineering, Automation, Trade or similar.A Certificate of Qualification (Ontario 442A or 442) from an accredited college/trade program is a considered an asset.Skill Set:Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in a metalworking manufacturing environment.Experience with similar metalworking machinery is a plus.Proven ability to read and interpret North American and European schematics, with a comprehensive understanding of feedback devices, relay logic, electronics, PLCs (Allen Bradley and Siemens), and motor controls (VFDs and direct drive).Demonstrated diagnostic troubleshooting skills.Experience with mechanical, electrical/electronic systems, and pneumatic controls.Familiarity with PLC/CNC controlled machinery.Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, and Windows OS.Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).Exceptional problem-solving abilities.Independent, professional work ethic, flexible, highly motivated, and detail-oriented.
