Medical Advisor, Oncology

Greater Toronto Area

Job Summary

Our client, a global biopharmaceutical company, is seeking a Medical Advisor (Oncology) to join their team. The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of the medical strategy for Oncology, and ensure up-to-date scientific knowledge within the team. They will act as the therapeutic expert, and provide scientific communication of clinical data and medical insights that will be used to support cross-functional teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide medical expertise and guidance for the activities of the Canadian Oncology Medical group.
  • Through the development and implementation of annual National medical plan, provides therapeutic guidance and alignment for Oncology MSL team to help them develop their territory plans.
  • Oversee all Canadian-based medical activities including but not limited to oversight of clinical programs, investigator sponsored research studies, posters and publications, medical information, advisory boards, etc.
  • Be a key partner with the commercial lead and all other functions and collaborate to set the strategic direction for the assigned therapeutic area/product.
  • Provide field support for MSL team.
  • Ensure effective pull-through of the MSL POA across all oncology products; conducting joint meetings with MSLs/KOLs, identifying training, and developing needs, and supporting effective scientific communication of data with HCPs.
  • Foster strong relationships with top KOLs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide medical/scientific expertise and field engagement.
  • Develop and implement National medical affairs plan; manage associated budget oversight.

Qualifications

  • MD, PhD (Sciences), PharmD, MSc. with experience in Oncology
  • 3+ years in pharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Clinical trials/research experience a strong asset
  • MSL experience and/or MSL management a plus
  • Must be a strategic thinker who can look ahead and clearly anticipate future needs, consequences, and trends
  • Excellent scientific acumen and ability to analyze scientific data quickly and accurately any
  • Ability to communicate scientific and clinical information clearly and credibly verbally and in writing
  • Interpersonal: ability to interact easily with all levels within the organization
  • Must act ethically and with integrity
  • High level of collaboration and influencing skills
  • Ability to work independently and within cross-functional teams
  • Excellent people leadership and organizational skills
  • Ability to make sound and compliance guided judgments
  • Must be a self-motivator with strong drive for result driven success
  • Must have MS Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
