We are seeking a permanent, full-time experienced Collections Clerk for our Halifax office. This position will report to the Controller and provides support for the office’s accounting team.

We are seeking a permanent, full-time experienced Collections Clerk for our Halifax office. This position will report to the Controller and provides support for the office’s accounting team.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Establish positive and professional client relationships;
  • Maintain open lines of communication with clients and provide regular updates on account status;
  • Update account records, payment statuses, and collection efforts to ensure accuracy and transparency;
  • Monitor and manage accounts, payment terms, overdue accounts, and payment plans.
  • Ensure accurate and timely processing of customer payments, reconcile discrepancies, and work with clients to find amicable solutions;
  • Assist in establishing effective collection strategies and policies;
  • Keep the Accounts Receivable Coordinator informed regarding collections issues and provide collections forecasts;
  • Escalate accounts to Eastern Collections while maintaining a record of clients sent.
  • Process client credit card payments;
  • Respond to enquiries from lawyers, staff and vendors in a timely manner;
  • Participate in cross-training to provide back up for other team members as operationally required;
  • Complete other related duties as assigned.
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in a professional customer service role;
  • Proven success working in an accounting and collections environment;
  • General knowledge/understanding of full cycle accounting is considered an asset;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a demonstrated ability to provide superior customer service;
  • High attention to detail and the ability to develop strong client relationships;
  • Previous experience at a professional services firm is considered an asset;
  • Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding skills;
  • Strong competency in the usage of MS Office, Excel, Adobe Acrobat Standard;
  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently in a dynamic environment;
  • Flexible, reliable and works well in a team environment;
  • Strong organizational and personal skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
