Northern Sun Mining currently has an exciting opportunity fora Journeyman Electrician to join our Maintenance department. Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor,the Journeyman Electrician will be responsible for installing, maintaining,troubleshooting, and repairing electrical systems and equipment. The JourneymanElectrician will play a vital role in ensuring that all electrical work is completedto high standards and in compliance with relevant codes and regulations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interpret and use appropriate sections of thecurrent Ontario Electrical Safety Code.
  • Read and interpret drawings, circuit diagrams andelectrical code specifications to carry out assigned tasks.
  • Use test equipment to evaluate new, repaired,in-service and stored equipment using manufacturers recommendations andsafety precautions.
  • Troubleshoot and isolate faults in electricalsystems and replace faulty parts as required.
  • Perform periodic tasks and inspections ofequipment and systems to observe operating conditions and determine whatis needed for repair or adjustments.
  • Execute preventative maintenance activities includingrepairs to all mill equipment in a timely manner.
  • Work in a safe productive manner to maximize quality,efficiency and availability while minimizing maintenance cost andunscheduled downtime.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation.
  • Work in compliance with prescribed company policiesand procedures.
  • Be proactive with company safety initiatives.
  • Additional tasks as assigned by the ElectricalSupervisor and/or Maintenance General Foreman.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ontario provincial or inter-provincial Red Sealtrade certificate or equivalent work experience.
  • Electrical experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
  • Responsiblefor providing his/her own personal tools.
  • Self-motivated, capable of performing tasks with minimalsupervision.
  • Mill Common Core is an asset.
  • Strong problem-solvingskills related to troubleshooting equipment issues,preferably in a fast-paced industrial environment.
  • Previousexperience using computer software applicable to maintenance operations.
