CultureSmith has partnered with a TARA Energy Services on their current search to add a new Senior Financial Accountant to the group.

Summary:
Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Senior Financial Accountant will be responsible for performing a variety of accounting functions including but not limited to maintaining the general ledger, accounts payable and receivable monitoring and follow up, cash forecasting, preparing monthly journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, month-end reporting and all supporting schedules. This role will also assist with annual budgeting preparation, financial statement preparation, analyzing operating statements and other financial and ad-hoc reporting, and assisting with reviews and audits as required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform and maintain monthly G/L close processes ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Validation of vendor invoices and associated pay runs.
  • Payroll analysis, and inquiry support.
  • Review transactions and supporting documentation, preparation of monthly journal entries and accruals, account reconciliations, and analysis.
  • Respond to financial inquiries by gathering, analyzing, summarizing and interpreting financial and operational data.
  • Assist with requests from external auditors.
  • Effectively interact with other individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

  • CPA designation and Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required.
  • 3-6 years post designation accounting experience, required.
  • Strong understanding of IFRS, preferred
  • Cost Accounting experience in oilfield services
  • Experience maintaining fixed assets in the finance system
  • Demonstrated critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure to insure delivery of multiple task deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills;
    task prioritization andeffective time management.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and collaboratively with all levels of employees, management and external agencies to maximize performance, creativity, problem solving and results.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer service focus.
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, required.
  • Experience with NetSuite, preferred.
