Position: Alberta Whitewater Slalom (AWS) Provincial Head Coach
Status: Full-time, salaried
Location: Calgary, AB
Responsibilities:
Develop whitewater slalom athletes for world-class performance and holistic growth.
Oversee High Performance, High Performance Lite, and Winter Development Programs.
Design and implement athlete training plans, including goal setting and performance evaluation.
Coordinate with CKC programs to optimize athlete development.
Lead year-round training plans for Youth, Adult, and Development program athletes.
Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement.
Manage program logistics, budgets, and equipment procurement.
Organize training camps, competitions, and travel arrangements.
Mentor assistant and club coaches in whitewater slalom.
Share responsibility for program management and promotion with AWA Executive Director.
Travel: Required for domestic and international events.
Qualifications:
Extensive experience in Slalom Canoe Kayak, including technical, tactical, and physical aspects.
Mandatory certifications: Safe Sport Training, Level 3 Enhanced Police Information Check (E-PIC), First Aid, Swiftwater Rescue.
Competitive experience at National and International levels.
International coaching experience.
Additional disciplines experience (SUP, Polo, Freestyle, Creek racing) is advantageous.
Strong understanding of sports science and coaching theory.
Willingness to pursue ongoing training and certification.
Class 5 driver’s license, willingness to obtain class 4 if necessary.

Proven track record in coaching and team management.
Effective team player with strong planning, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Ability to integrate sports science, medicine, and technology for performance enhancement.
Innovative thinking and adaptability.
Proficient computer literacy.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $22.00-$26.50 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
