Position Overview:

Sonepar’s Communications Manager plays a crucial role in the organization by developing both internal and external communication strategies. This management role requires someone with at least five years of experience in the field. Sonepar’s Communications Manager will create, implement, and oversee communication programs, that effectively describe and promote Sonepar’s brand and Purpose nationally.

This role provides supervision and direction to staff and often works in conjunction with other department leads.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing Communication Strategies: Design comprehensive communication plans that align with the organization's goals and objectives. Identify target audiences, determine key messages, and select appropriate communication channels.
  • Content Creation and Management: Oversee the creation and distribution of various communication materials such as press releases, newsletters, website updates, social media content, and career sites. This involves writing, editing, and reviewing content to ensure accuracy, consistency, and alignment with the organization's brand voice.
  • Media Relations: Cultivate and maintain relationships with media outlets and industry journalists to promote positive coverage of the organization. The Communications Manager pitches stories, coordinate interviews, and respond to media inquiries, acting as the primary spokesperson when necessary.
  • Internal Communications: Develop strategies to enhance internal communication processes within the organization, ensuring that employees are well-informed about company news, policies, and initiatives. This involves, creating employee newsletters, or managing internal communication platforms.
  • Brand Management: Overseeing the organization's brand identity and ensures consistency across all communication channels. This includes monitoring brand mentions, addressing any discrepancies, and evolving branded content as needed.
  • Collaboration and Coordination: Collaborating with various departments within the organization, such as human resources, marketing, operations, and executive management, to ensure alignment and integration of communication efforts.
  • Crisis Communications: In times of crisis or reputation management issues, Sonepar’s Communications Manager is responsible for developing crisis communication plans and coordinating responses to mitigate negative publicity (internally and externally) and maintain trust with associates, vendors, and customers.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications or Marketing.
  • 2-3 years of experience in corporate communications and marketing management.
  • Extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.
  • Excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Superior project management and time management skills.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, company websites, and media relations is essential.
  • A wide degree of creativity.
  • Understanding of brand consistency and adherence.
  • Self motivated with a positive and professional approach to management.
