Azure Platform Engineer

The Role

A Platform Engineer at Tactable is a seasoned professional with deep understanding of Azure cloud infrastructure, automation principles, and a security-first mindset. In this role, you’ll take the lead in designing, implementing, and maintaining our cloud-based platforms and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and security.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement IaC solutions (Terraform strongly preferred) to automate the provisioning and management of Azure resources (VMs, networks, storage, etc.)
  • Automation and administration of Databricks environments, including account setup, Unity Catalog, workspace management, cluster configuration, and user access controls.
  • Oversee Kubernetes cluster administration, including configuration, upgrades, troubleshooting, and security hardening.
  • Design and optimize Azure cloud environments with well-architected framework and best practices in mind.
  • Build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, emphasizing code quality, security scanning, and an automated deployment process.
  • Demonstrate expertise in Azure networking concepts to design and maintain secure and efficient network topologies using VNets, NSGs, VPNs, load balancing, etc.
  • Integrate security principles throughout the development and deployment lifecycles, leveraging tools for vulnerability scanning, threat modeling, and compliance monitoring.

Required Core Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, DevOps engineering, cloud architecture.
  • Advanced understanding of Azure infrastructure (GCP/AWS is a bonus) and implementing IaC.
  • Advanced understanding and experience in managing and automating Databricks environment.
  • Advanced understanding of monitoring and observability solutions such as Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, Application Insights.
  • Advanced understanding of Networking and Security Principles, including Azure VNets, NSGs, Firewalls, Azure AD, IAM.
  • Advanced understanding of architecting and building CI/CD pipelines, ideally using Azure DevOps.
  • Advanced working knowledge of DevSecOps methodology and solutions.
  • Strong understanding of containerization, Kubernetes, and container orchestration using AKS.
  • Strong proficiency in scripting using Python, PowerShell, Bash.
  • Development experience with C# or Node.js is highly preferred.
  • Enthusiasm for working in a fast-paced start-up environment and the ability to be cross-functional.

Other Skills:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, and or equivalent industry experience.
  • Strong preference to Microsoft Azure Associate or Expert.
  • Databricks certifications are a bonus.
  • Good to have GCP/AWS Certifications.
  • Strong communication skills to translate technical knowledge to business language.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage multiple workstreams.
  • Strong understanding of Jira and ServiceNow.
