Bigstone Education Cree Nation Education Authority seeks a dynamic and culturally responsive Math teacher to inspire and guide our high school students in developing solid mathematical reasoning, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the Alberta Math curriculum, a commitment to incorporating Indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems in their teaching approach, and a passion for creating a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Curriculum Delivery: Plan and deliver comprehensive instruction aligned with the Alberta Math curriculum, integrating Indigenous perspectives, examples, and culturally relevant applications of mathematical concepts.
Explore and value the diverse mathematical knowledge systems and problem-solving approaches within Indigenous cultures and those in Western mathematics tradition.
Connecting Math to Indigenous Cultures: Recognize the universality of mathematics while honouring diverse problem-solving strategies, representations, and applications of mathematical concepts found in Indigenous cultures.

Actively participate in professional development opportunities to improve teaching practice and stay current with evolving educational approaches for Indigenous learners.
Bachelor's Degree in Education specializing in Mathematics or a related field.
Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate.
Demonstrated knowledge of the Alberta Math curriculum.
Experience teaching high school Math courses.
Commitment to inclusion, equity, and creating a culturally responsive classroom environment.
Experience in integrating technology for innovative teaching and learning.
Experience working in Indigenous communities or a demonstrated understanding of Indigenous cultures, histories, and perspectives, including Indigenous approaches to mathematics.
