The Board invites applications for the following teaching position:

Literacy Coach will be responsible to the Superintendent of Education (Curriculum) and will provide support for students in Kindergarten - Grade 3.
Basic: Primary/Junior Divisions Additional: Reading, Part 1 Reading, Part 2 or Reading, Specialist (preferred) Experience: Minimum of five (5) years teaching experience in the elementary panel Other: - Awareness of Ministry directives and policies; - Understanding of scientific, evidence-based instruction for foundational knowledge and skills in reading; - Literacy Coach will assist with the implementation of the new Language Curriculum being released in 2023, be trained in, and support, the roll out of the early reading screener in 2024, and work alongside the classroom educator, to support students needing Tier 1-3 reading interventions. They must have experience with the Essential Practices to support a comprehensive approach for literacy instruction as well a good working knowledge of the new language curriculum. In consultation with the Literacy Consultant and Curriculum Lead, support, plan, and implement reading programs and supports for students, provide ongoing assessment, and evaluation of students' acquisition of the foundational literacy skills. They would work in small groups with students in K-3, utilizing programming, assessment, and screening tools across all areas of the BHNCDSB as well as support educator capacity building as needed.
