Nurses Specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence

The NSWOC Nurse, is responsible for the provision and management of high quality, appropriate nursing care to all individuals with actual and potential skin integrity issues related to wound management, ostomy care, and continence related nursing diagnoses
Adhering to provincial regulatory body standards and practice guidelines, perform safe, competent evidence-based nursing care within his/her scope of practice
Assess, plan, collaborate with the client, family and other members of the health care team to establish and/or update the care plan and implement and evaluate client care with every client encounter and provide clinical advocacy
Assessment of clients for appropriateness of virtual consults Skills need for success: You are a highly energetic and enthusiastic individual who loves to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
Hold a certificate for successful completion of a wound, ostomy, and continence program (NSWOC) from a recognized educational institution; or
Hold a certificate for successful completion of a Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (“WOCN”) program from a recognized educational institution; or
Has completed 75% of the NSWOC certificate; or
Previous work experience in the community or acute care setting with a focus on wound care is preferred
You are highly organized and excel at managing your schedule
You have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
Ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
A minimum of two years’ community or clinical/hospital experience preferred
You are currently certified as a Registered Nurse (RN) with the CNO
Currently certified with Standard First Aid & CPR/ AED (Level C)
