What to Expect in this Role:

New Age Services has opened a new Group Home location in Coventry Hills. You will be part of this new team, working with two individuals who have been in our services. You will be working with a team of about 13 members providing support for two male individuals. These individuals are both on the Autism spectrum and have high sensory needs, as well as OCD, and ADHD. On this team, you will be supporting these individuals in their daily life routines including attending activities, transporting to appointments or community groups, meal preparation & cooking, and light housekeeping. This team will work together to follow the individualized support plans for each individual to help them work towards and achieve their goals.


Daily activities and responsibilities will include…

  • Provide medical, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support
  • Transporting individuals to appointments, activities, and community outings
  • Give verbal prompts, redirection, and encouragement
  • Administer daily medications, and complete daily logs, behaviour tracking and/or reporting
  • Assist with daily chores and responsibilities within the community or in the Group Home
  • Support safety and cleanliness of the individual's living space
  • Complete tasks such fire drills//hazard assessments
  • Participate in Planned Approach, and ISP development, research, and implementation
  • Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand Individual needs and requirements

About you:

You are someone who patient, compassionate, and diligent in their work. You are willing to learn and adapt to new situations and have a mindset of continuous improvement. You are a Team Player and understand the importance of communicating effectively with your team. You are encouraging of those around you, have a positive attitude, and do your best to remain calm during stressful moments. You have experience and understanding of Autism and have knowledge of effective strategies when supporting individuals with Autism, sensory needs, or mental health diagnosis’.

Schedule:
The schedule is a 2-week rotational schedule 33.4 hours/week . The first two weeks of rotation shifts will be from 7:00 AM – 3:00 PM , 3:00 PM – 11:00PM then 9am-2pm.

  • The starting rate for this position is $21.19/hour
  • There is additional pay of $0.25 - $0.50 per hour for evening and weekend shift
  • Mileage is reimbursed at $0.50/km
  • Cost shared benefits will begin after 3 months’ probation
  • This role includes 4% vacationpay plus an additional 5 flex days per year available after the first 3 months of employment
  • All regular staff are eligible to pick up additional casual hours at any of our locations outside of their scheduled hours

MinimumRequirements:

  • A 1-year Certificate/Diploma in Human Services or Disability sector from a Canadian institution (international equivalencies in Human Services or Disability sector will be considered)
  • Intermediate computer/technological skills
  • Valid class 5 driver’slicense, and a reliable vehicle,withminimum $2,000,000 liability insuranceby time of hire
  • Comfortable supporting individuals with complex behaviours
  • Must be comfortable supporting individuals in a swimming pool & in environments where animals or pets may be present

Preferred Requirements:

  • One-year relevant experience in thehuman services fieldor disability sector
  • Previous experience with Autism, Sensory needs, behaviours of concern, OCD, ADHD
