How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The main function and purpose of this position is to maintain and repair cylinders in compliance with safety requirements in order to meet customer expectations and ensure efficient operations, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives.

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW? The main function and purpose of this position is to maintain and repair cylinders in compliance with safety requirements in order to meet customer expectations and ensure efficient operations, while promoting ALC's quality and safety objectives.

1. Repairs cylinders: Receives instructions for work to be done from Operator I. Empties residual gas from cylinders, valves /unvalves, inspects, classifies, paints, labels, replaces and/or repairs defective components, scraps, moves cylinders. Completes required documentation and integrates cylinders into computerized tracking system.

2. Handling: Handles cylinders, removes or replaces caps. Loads and unloads trailers; uses forklift. De-palletizes empty cylinders and palletizes full or discarded cylinders.

 

3. Ensures quality control and maintenance: Maintains tools and equipment in good condition. Keeps plant clean, puts tools away after use, observes safety rules, completes daily or other reports when required.

4. Handling equipment, materials and tools: Uses the following tools and materials: tap screwing machine, bottle turner, workbench, vices, hand tools, scales, acetylene and propylene bottles, fuses, taps, spare parts, brushes and rollers, fire extinguisher, forklift, acetylene, acetone, compressed air.

5. Quality / safety: Observes and follows safety rules. Follows plant quality procedures. Is responsible for notifying management of any situation concerning quality and/or safety.

6. Other related duties: Prepares empty cylinders for inspection or filling: performs visual inspection against defect labels, weighing, sorting of cylinders, customer ownership, acetoning as required and replacement of self-adhesive labels. May perform other tasks upon request.

TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE

● Diploma: Secondary V completed 

● Training: driver's license, forklift operator's license would be an asset

● Specialized training: DEP in stationary machine operation, industrial mechanics, machining or automotive mechanics or equivalent. Candidates with a technical DEC will also be considered.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

● Experience in the compressed gas industry would be an asset 

● Must have worked in a manufacturing environment

● Must have worked evening and night shifts (12 hours)

● Must have worked in an ISO 9000 environment (work governed by defined procedures)
