Position overview

The Manager, Airport Capacity is accountable for managing airport capacity to proudly deliver a predictable, reliable, and resilient operation. If you are a strong critical thinker with a proven ability to balance business outcomes with efficient operations through the application of capacity management practices, we have a permanent full-time opportunity for you.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Oversight and ownership of our capacity management programs and practices including all aspects of policy, people, process, data and technology to consistently manage demand against capacity.
  • Establish operational strategies, set capacity parameters and ensure efficient utilization of our assets.
  • Oversee the analysis of aircraft, baggage and passenger demand against established capacity and approved demand to continuously improve our strategic and operational outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong and meaningful relationships with our airline customers.
  • Lead a team of professionals which includes hiring, coaching, training, monitoring work efforts and performance, supporting developmental activities, conducting formal evaluations and applying appropriate discipline.
  • Participate in or oversee special projects and other assignments supporting capacity management at YVR.

Key qualifications include:

  • Post-secondary degree, preferably in Business or Operations Management, supplemented by a minimum of seven years’ experience working in aviation or an operational decision-making role; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Preference for experience in airline/airport slot scheduling and planning.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven ability to interpret, derive insights and present large data sets balanced with decision-making skills and the ability to work with ambiguity.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to develop and implement programs with a keen consideration for stakeholder impact and change management.
  • Proven relationship skills including the ability to organize and facilitate effective communication between multiple stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated people leadership skills.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $100,640 to $144,670 per annum, based on a 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications and internal equity. Performance-Based Incentive: Eligible for an annual bonus target at 15% of your annual salary.
