Reporting to the IT Director, the role of the IT Security Analyst is to ensure that the company IT systems are suitably secure from attack and/or loss of corporate data. The IT Security Analyst will work with the business on evaluating present system vulnerabilities and recommending corrective measures as well as assisting external auditors during company audits.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to information being processed, stored or accessed on the network.
  • Procure, install and monitor security tools to minimize system vulnerabilities and risk.
  • Ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability.
  • Participate in the design, implementation, and testing of Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery plans.
  • Monitor system logs for performance or security issues.
  • Develop and implement tools and processes to measure and track security metrics.
  • Provide guidance to IT functional teams with respect to the implementation of security patches/tools and the monitoring/documentation/reporting of security compliance.
  • Conduct risk assessment and security impact analysis of information systems.
  • Develop and maintain and understanding of applicable security regulations (e.g. HIPPA, PIPEDA, PCI-DSS, etc.) and work with management to develop and implement remediation plans, as necessary.
  • Maintain excellent communication with the IT Director and IT Security Officer on all tasks and projects.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of existing and emerging technologies.
  • Share ideas, opinions, and constructive criticism with other IT team members.
  • Maintain professionalism in all business and end user communications.
  • Demonstrate effective prioritization of day-to-day workload and ensure that commitments are met.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Provide emergency on-call support on a rotating schedule and flexibility to work periodic overtime as required.

Qualifications:

  • College Diploma or Certificate in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Some IT security related certifications, i.e. GIAC-GSEC, CISSP, CEH, etc. or relevant experience in an IT security role.
  • Proficiency with Windows 10/11, Server 2019 and the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
  • The ability to work independently or in a team environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - patient, calm, demeanor.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, analytical and follow-up skills.
  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Additional Preferred Experience and Skills

  • Security information and event management (SIEM) or Security Operations Center (SOC) solutions.
  • System monitoring tools, e.g. Nagios, CACTI.
  • Managed Detection and Response and anti-malware endpoint solutions.
  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux and/or BSD UNIX.
  • Cloud providers, e.g. Amazon AWS, MS Azure and Google Cloud.
  • Packet capture technologies.
