In accordance with the vision and values of the organization, the Dietitian is a member of a multidisciplinary health care team and provides nutrition care and support to individuals, patients, clients, residents and groups according to established policies, standards and procedures.
Utilizing clinical techniques and knowledge, the Dietitian provides nutrition services through: nutrition assessment; care planning and charting; intervention, goal setting and monitoring; counseling and education programs; consults and communicates with the multidisciplinary care teams; acts as a resource to other health professionals within Northern Health.
The Dietitian provides input to the Director of Care or designate by participating in the development of nutrition practice guidelines and procedures; research and continuous quality improvement initiatives for the facility and program.
The Dietitian liaises and advises food service staff on patient/client/resident care issues and menu development.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30

Qualfications
•Bachelor degree from a recognized university with majors in dietetics or nutrition.
•Completion of a dietetic internship recognized by the Canadian Dietetic Association (CDA) and the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
•Current membership with the College of Dietitians of British Columbia.
•1 to 2 years of recent related experience in dietetic counseling or a combination of education, training or experience.
•Valid BC Driver's License.

•Knowledge Integration: Integrates best practice and current research evidence to support professional practice decisions and actions.
•Communication: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with clients, families, the public, medical staff and the members of the interdisciplinary team using, oral written and computer communication means. Demonstrated ability to effectively resolve conflict.
•Critical Thinking: Demonstrated ability to integrate and evaluate pertinent data (from multiple sources) to problem-solve and make decisions effectively. Applies the problem solving process demonstrating critical thinking and decision making skills using a systems approach.
•Management: Demonstrated ability to organize work, set objectives and establish priorities. Manages time and resources, implements activities to promote cooperation among the interdisciplinary team, supervises responsibilities of others, and collaborates across disciplines.
•Leadership: Promotes staff morale, engagement, and risk-taking. Demonstrates creative planning for change and innovations, implementation of NH policies or other protocols, and ongoing professional development of self and others.
•Teamwork: Demonstrated ability to foster teamwork and a commitment to excellence in the provision of client care.
•Equipment: Demonstrated computer skills including the use of Windows based programs. Demonstrated data analysis skills including appropriate data analysis and reporting tools. Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
•Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
