Controls Implementation Engineer

The Controls Implementation engineer is responsible for governing adherence of equipment manufacturers to Ford's Electrical, Fluid and Software specifications, and ensuring connectivity to Ford's IT Monitor and Quality collection Systems.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to:

  1. Support the assembly and machining controls engineering deliverables for PTO programs, from simultaneous engineering through program launch for all Global PTO sites.
  2. Implement and apply standard software and hardware controls architectures across all programs/plants, following the PTO controls specification.
  3. Ensure the identification and capture of lessons learned along with their application to new programs, as well as the impact to existing strategies and standards.
  4. Support simultaneous engineering meetings with Tier I suppliers to orchestrate controls program reviews with all interested parties.
  5. Participate in management program reviews and represent the controls organization in commodity discussions.
  6. Drive the controls organization to resolve issues, including feasibility, timing, cost and workload.
  7. Handle program deliveries and responsibilities.
  8. Deliver new model program work for various Powertrain programs supporting and working in Windsor, Ontario, with occasional travel to North America building locations. Travel needs may increase during peak program times.
  9. Work off shift, as the need arises, during peak program install and launch times.
Qualifications

The minimum requirements we seek:

  • Technical Diploma in Electromechanical Technology or related field of study
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment

Our preferred requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Software Engineering
  • Experience in controls engineering, including applied experience in Structured Control Language (SCL) including FC/FB Editing and creation
  • Extensive software programming experience - Siemens based preferred
  • Direct program experience with assembly and machining controls architectures (hardware/software)
  • Validated programming capabilities with Siemens, Schneider, Bosch PLCs and with CNC/Motion controls systems
  • Hands-on knowledge and ability to troubleshoot and fix PLC, CNC, robot, vision and other automation issues
