Position Overview

As a Mechanical Field Manager, you will play a significant role in the success of Ganotec. You will function as a field supervisor and may have responsibility for multiple foremen, laborers/craft workers, and subcontractors assigned to the work. Your responsibilities include organizing work methods, scheduling, cost control, ensuring conformity with drawings and specifications, overseeing workmanship, and assigning work to accomplish project execution.

You will also be responsible for maintaining positive relationships with clients, architects/engineers, suppliers, subcontractors, and jobsite staff. At Ganotec, we aim to make a difference and provide opportunities for you to contribute to our construction operations.

District Overview

Ganotec is a full-service heavy industrial contractor operating in Canada. We specialize in self-performing major disciplines such as civil, structural steel erection, heavy mechanical equipment installation, process piping, and electrical/instrumentation and controls. Our business encompasses various commercial contract styles, including full turnkey, EPC, design-build, T&M, and conventional discipline packages.

Location

This role is based on the Union Station project in Toronto, ON.

Responsibilities
  1. Daily review and confirmation of subcontractor crew activities
  2. Assisting in project coordination and planning in a specific construction area
  3. Overseeing operations related to a specific discipline/segment of work
  4. Ensuring clear understanding of the project scope among all stakeholders
  5. Directing discipline craft supervisors/subcontractors on site
  6. Performing daily inspections of work
  7. Providing job safety training and awareness
  8. Establishing budgetary guidelines and ensuring cost control measures
  9. Setting quality standards and ensuring compliance with quality assurance and company standards
  10. Managing and confirming information within the BIM Model
  11. Administering subcontracts as intended with the assistance of the Project Engineer
Qualifications

Experience: 8+ years in construction with 3+ years in a Mechanical Superintendent/Manager/Leadership role

Education: Undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

Skills: Experience with BIM required, 3-5 years preferred; experience with rail projects highly desirable

Capabilities: Ability to oversee multiple disciplines such as steel, piping, and mechanical; self-starter with strong motivation and ability to work with minimal supervision

Additional Skills: Quick learner, understanding of Kiewit’s policies, procedures and software programs, problem-solving ability, excellent organizational, administrative, communication, and interpersonal skills, strong experience in leadership, safety, negotiations, planning, and contract administration
