Parks Planning Technician

Status: Regular Full Time (CUPE)

As a Parks Planning Technician, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, development, and enhancement of parks and open spaces in Maple Ridge. Your responsibilities will encompass a range of administrative, design and technical tasks, including organizing public meetings, preparing design concepts, drafting detailed landscape plans, overseeing construction projects, planning trails and liaising with internal and external stakeholders.

Bachelor’s Degree in landscape architecture, or a related discipline plus sound related experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Considerable knowledge of landscape construction and design principles, practices and procedures applicable to the work performed.
Considerable knowledge of landscape construction, materials, costs and methods related to the work performed.
Sound knowledge of the rules, regulations, policies, and by-laws related to the work performed.
Ability to prepare design proposals and conceptual plans for park development or redevelopment projects through the use of computer assisted drafting programs (Vectorworks) and GIS programs (ArcGIS).
Ability to prepare detailed plans, drawings, contract documentation and provide contract administration for various types of parks construction projects.
Ability to review, analyze, assess and interpret plans, specifications, contracts and other materials related to the work.
Class 5 Driver’s License valid in the Province of British Columbia


The term for this temporary full-time assignment is approximately twelve monthswith a possibility for extension based on operational needs.
