Electrical Engineer

POSITION SUMMARY:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical Engineer to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical engineering principles and a notable willingness to learn and develop new skills.
POSITION DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for control panel and switchgear/protection wiring design
- Responsible for component specification and selection for wiring and design, to adhere to project requirements
- Review of customer specifications and coordinating the information to other departments and/or instructing draft personnel
- Preparation and verification of technical reports and studies
- Participation in meetings, scope discussions and final review of submittal documents
- Review and completion of power system studies (using SKM/ETAP software), protection and control design and upgrades
- Programming of microprocessor protective relays and PLCs
- Professional sealing of documents for client submittals (if Professional Engineering designation is obtained)
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
- 3-5 years’ experience in an Electrical Engineering role
- Currently possesses a Degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited Canadian Institution and current registration with APEGA required
- Professional Engineering designation with APEGA or similar in Canada preferred
- Experience with SKM or ETAP Engineering Software Products and completion of power system studies (Coordination/Short Circuit/Arc Flash) using either or both software packages is desired
- Knowledge with sizing and specification of electrical equipment and components
- Strong knowledge with creation and review of control, logic, and relay design including creation of drawings, relay setpoint files, and simple to moderate PLC programs
- Experience in an industrial capacity with a notable willingness to learn and develop new skills
- Reliable team player with a professional and positive approach
- Ability to problem-solve and work independently
- Exceptional written and verbal English communication skills
- Safety conscious with an interest in continued learning of safety precautions and procedures
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / REQUIREMENTS:
- Occasional overtime may be required
LOCATION: Calgary, AB
