Our client is a diversified real estate development group with a robust portfolio that includes commercial, residential, hospitality, and food and beverage manufacturing sectors. Operating with over 450 employees, including 85 managers, they are a cornerstone in the real estate development community. To bolster their finance team, they are seeking a seasoned Corporate Controller to work on-site. This role requires a strategic leader with a CPA designation who will oversee a team of 12 accountants and report directly to the COO.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the accounting operations of the company, including the review of journal entries, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and statutory reporting.
  • Develop and maintain internal controls and policies to ensure the accuracy and integrity of all financial reporting.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with official guidelines and requirements.
  • Manage the budgeting, financial forecasting, and cash flow planning processes, working closely with the COO to align financial management with strategic business objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 12 accountants, promoting a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with other department heads to provide financial insight and analysis, supporting broader corporate strategy and decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Develop and implement financial best practices to improve efficiency and add value to the operations of the company.
  • Participate in the formulation of the company’s future direction and supporting tactical initiatives.
  • Perform risk management by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments, and manage capital requests and budgeting processes.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a CPA designation.
  • Proven experience as a Corporate Controller or similar senior financial managerial role, ideally within the real estate sector or related industries.
  • Excellent leadership abilities to oversee a large team of financial professionals.
  • Highly analytical thinker with proven ability to work through complex data and provide actionable recommendations.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the capacity to engage and influence senior executives and stakeholders.
  • Proficient with accounting software, ERP systems, and MS Office, particularly Excel.
  • Detail-oriented and able to deliver accurate and precise work even under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or relevant field.
