One of our manufacturing clients is looking for a Senior Buyer for their plant in Newmarket , ON.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard suppliers capable of meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements. Develop and execute strategic sourcing strategies to mitigate risks and enhance competitiveness.
Monitor supplier performance, resolve issues, and implement corrective actions when necessary.
Lead negotiations with suppliers to secure favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, and contract terms. Drive cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality or service levels.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to optimize the supply chain, streamline processes, and reduce lead times. Draft, review, and manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Monitor contract performance and enforce terms as needed.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential risks and opportunities.
Implement cost reduction initiatives while maintaining product quality and integrity.
Identify and mitigate risks within the supply chain, including geopolitical, economic, and operational risks. Ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and regulatory requirements related to procurement and sourcing activities.
Provide guidance and mentorship to junior members of the procurement team. Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field. Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or supply chain management, preferably in the automotive industry.
Deep understanding of automotive supply chain dynamics, including familiarity with OEM and Tier 1 supplier relationships.
Proficiency in contract negotiation, management, and administration.
Proficiency in procurement software and tools, such as SAP, Oracle, or similar systems.
