Full-Time – Monday to Friday – 40 Hours perweek

What to ExpectThe Health and Safety (H&S) Specialistwill leverage their skills and knowledge to maintain a culture ofhealth and safety within all ATS Healthcare facilities.Responsibilities will include developing, implementing and maintainingpolicies, conducting inspections and providing safety training toemployees. As a safety leader, the H&S specialist will stay informedon industry trends and legislative changes and communicate informationto relevant stakeholders. The H&S Specialist is also responsible tomaintain a safe, discrimination free, positive workplaceenvironment.

RESPONSIBILITIES:Develop, implement and maintainhealth and safety policies, procedures and programs ensuringcompliance with relevant legislation and standards.Collaborate withtraining department to develop health and safety focused trainingprograms and provide training and education to employees on safetyprocedures ensuring comprehension and compliance to policies.OverseeJHSC committees for different locations, reviewing workplaceinspection audits and assisting with implementing actions /recommendations.Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses todetermine root causes and recommend corrective actions to preventrecurrence. Complete documentation resulting from these includingworker’s compensation requirements.Liaise with medical practitionersand/or WCB’s / WSIB in relation to ATS Healthcare’s Early Safe Returnto Work program. In addition, work closely with department heads toarrange for any modified duties that may be required.Stay current onindustry trends, best practices and regulatory changes related tohealth and safety and communicate relevant information.Coordinate withexternal regulatory bodies such as the Labour Program and WorkersCompensation Boards ensuring compliance with legislativerequirements.Participate in the development and implementation ofemergency response plans and procedures, including evacuationsprotocols, first aid training and crisis management.Review all ChangeControl documentation to assess any H&S impact/risk.Maintain MSDSdocumentation for all sites.Promote and foster a culture of health andsafety awareness and accountability.Other duties asrequired.

What you Need:Post-Secondary completion of arecognized H&S certificate or degree3+ years of experience working ina health and safety focused position.Excellent understanding ofOccupational Health and Safety legislation and regulationsCRSPdesignation an assetExperience working with provincial worker’scompensation boards and WSIB.Strong communication & organizationalskillsKnowledge of recognized Health and Safety bestpracticesKnowledge of Transportation and LogisticsactivitiesExceptional Keyboard and Computer literacy skillsExperiencein a GMP environmentAble to work in a dynamic and fast pacedenvironment
