Position Detail:

We are looking for an experienced Team Lead for Civil/Mechanical Engineering to join our team. This position is hybrid based from Quebec.

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Team Lead, Civil/Mechanical Engineering is responsible for serving as lead for mechanical and civil disciplines with a focus on assignments associated with civil and dam safety work in support of FirstLight’s Canadian operations. Will coordinate with the Engineering Manager and in-house Engineering staff to ensure high standards for dam safety, compliance and public safety. Work assignments will include projects located throughout Canada.

Key Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To:

  • Provide engineering and technical support on civil/dam safety projects;
  • Supervise a small multidiscipline team of Engineers, Technicians and Drafters;
  • Support equipment/facility inspections and prepare routine internal and external reports;
  • Perform project management functions on CAPEX and major maintenance projects;
  • Perform Dam Safety Inspections and Public Safety Assessments;
  • Provide oversight of contractors and consultants;
  • Ensure assignments meet quality standards, regulatory requirements and are completed on time and within budget;
  • Develop schedules and evaluate work plans required to support engineering assignments;
  • Document maintenance and repair activities including for dam safety; coordinate assignments with other station departments and associated Company and contractor activities;
  • Support all aspects of dam safety at the plants;
  • Communicate polices and expectations regarding dam safety and regulatory compliance;
  • Prepare technical studies and reports;
  • Perform cost-benefit analyses in support of proposed engineering assignments;
  • Prepare specifications and evaluate proposals for contractor and consultant’s services and/or equipment purchases;
  • Complies with all Corporate policies and procedures;
  • Carries out other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications / Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, required; Civil discipline preferred;
  • Professional Engineering license from Ontario and Quebec (P.Eng. , ing.) or ability to obtain within one year;
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French (written and spoken), required;
  • 7+ years of relevant engineering experience including project management; experience in hydroelectric plants, Ontario and Quebec Dam Safety regulations preferred;
  • Strong analytical and reporting experience;
  • Prior experience working independently with a strong sense of accountability;
  • Outstanding organizational and written and verbal communication skills;
  • Ability to travel within Canada frequently and to the US on occasion; must have a valid driver’s license;
  • Must be proficient with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)

Détail du poste :

Nous sommes à la recherche d’un(e) chef d’équipe expérimenté(e) en génie civil/mécanique pour se joindre à notre équipe. Ce poste est hybride basé au Québec.

Relevant du gestionnaire de l’ingénierie, le chef d’équipe, Génie civil/mécanique est responsable des disciplines mécaniques et civiles, en mettant l’accent sur les missions liées aux travaux de génie civil et de sécurité des barrages pour soutenir les activités canadiennes de FirstLight. Assurer la coordination avec le gestionnaire de l’ingénierie et le personnel d’ingénierie interne afin de garantir des normes élevées en matière de sécurité, de conformité et de sécurité publique des barrages. Les affectations de travail comprendront des projets situés partout au Canada.

Lesprincipales responsabilités comprennent, sans toutefois s'y limiter :

  • Fournir un soutien technique et d’ingénierie sur des projets de sécurité civile et de barrage ;

· Superviser une petite équipe multidisciplinaire d’ingénieurs, de techniciens et de dessinateurs ;

· Soutenir les inspections de l’équipement et des installations et préparer des rapports internes et externes de routine ;

· Gérer les projets d'investissement et de maintenance majeurs ;

· Effectuer des inspections de sécurité des barrages et des évaluations de la sécurité publique;

· Superviser les entrepreneurs et les consultants ;

· Veiller à ce que les mandats respectent les normes de qualité et les exigences réglementaires, et qu'ils soient réalisés dans les délais et dans les limites du budget ;

· Élaborer des échéanciers et évaluer les plans de travail nécessaires pour soutenir les affectations d’ingénierie ;

· Documenter les activités d’entretien et de réparation, y compris pour la sécurité des barrages, en coordonnant les affectations avec les autres services de la station et les activités connexes de la Société et des sous-traitants ;

· Assurer le support de tous les aspects de la sécurité des barrages dans les usines ;

· Communiquer les politiques et les attentes en matière de sécurité des barrages et de conformité réglementaire ;

· Préparer des études et des rapports techniques ;

· Effectuer des analyses coûts-avantages pour étayer les missions d’ingénierie proposées ;

· Préparer les devis et évaluer les propositions de services et/ou d’achats d’équipement des entrepreneurs et des consultants ;

  • Accomplir toute autre tâche ou responsabilité qui pourrait lui être confiée ;
  • Se conformer à toutes les politiques et procédures de FirstLight.

Qualifications / Compétences professionnelles :

  • Baccalauréat en génie, requis ; de préférence en génie civil ;
  • Licence professionnelle d’ingénieur de l’Ontario et du Québec (P.Eng., ing.) ou capacité d’obtenir dans un délai d’un an ;
  • Maîtrise bilingue de l’anglais et du français (écrit et parlé), requise ;
  • 7+ années d’expérience pertinente en ingénierie, incluant la gestion de projet ; préférence pour l'expérience dans les centrales hydroélectriques et la connaissance des règlements de sécurité des barrages de l’Ontario et du Québec ;
  • Solide expérience en analyse et en rédaction de rapports ;
  • Expérience préalable de travail autonome avec un fort sens des responsabilités ;
  • Excellentes compétences en organisation et en communication écrite et verbale ;
  • Capacité à voyager fréquemment au Canada et aux États-Unis à l’occasion ; possession d’un permis de conduire valide nécessaire ;
  • Maîtrise de MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint et Outlook).

Exigences physiques

  • Capacité à grimper en hauteur et à travailler dans des espaces confinés, ainsi qu'à soulever des charges, à travailler à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur dans diverses conditions météorologiques, sur des structures de station, des échelles, des échafaudages et de l’équipement pendant des périodes prolongées ;

· Mobilité physique nécessaire (debout, marche, portée, escalade, flexion), ainsi que la capacité de rester assis pendant de longues périodes tout au long de la journée / des heures de travail ;

  • Capacité à soulever et/ou à déplacer occasionnellement des charges pouvant aller jusqu’à 25 lb
