Nurse Educator

Reporting to the Manager, Operations, the CNE provides mentorship, training, and support to the nursing and support worker staff of the health centre. The CNE is responsible for assessing the delivery of nursing care and the educational needs and goals of clinical staff. The CNE coordinates training and maintains training records for all Health & Wellness staff. This position oversees the coordination and implementation of the Quality Assurance programming for the team. Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution; Significant nursing experience, preferably in a First Nation community/setting;
Experience with program development and implementation that helps support clinical roles in a community health setting.
Experience and/or training in theory and practice of adult learning principles and practices.
Note: An equivalent combination of education & training, and considerable experience in the above areas will also be considered. Assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation skills to support nursing practice and client care planning.
Demonstrated teaching and mentorship skills to effectively support others.
Knowledge of instructional techniques, practices, and strategies in adult education and ability to create learning plans.
Research skills relevant to clinical nursing with ability to incorporate research into clinical practice.
Ability to be a self-starter, resourceful and creative.
Ability to act as a positive role model for staff and community members.
Knowledge of Kwanlin Dün First Nation governance structure, our community, heritage and culture, social structure, language and traditions, goals, and aspirations are essential for success in this position.
Current CPR BLS Certificate (or willingness to obtain within two months of hire), Satisfactory Criminal Record Check w/Vulnerable sector, Valid Driver’s License, TB clearance and up-to-date immunization record.
