Richmond BC, Canada Progressive Automations Inc Full time

Progressive Automations is one of the top manufacturers and distributors of linear actuators and home/office automation (see Progressive Desk and Progressive Bed subsidiary). Our goal is to lead the industry in innovation while bringing you premium quality products at an affordable price. Our creative, energetic, and innovative team has the experience of working together with different customers, from automation enthusiasts and hobbyists to large-scale partners. As a Senior Solutions Engineer for our linear motion division, your main responsibility is strategically pursuing new business from Tier 1 target accounts (OEMs) across North America.
Your focus industries will be on- and off-highway mobile machinery, specialty vehicles, ag-tech, landscaping, and farming equipment, as well as recreational and pleasure craft.
Help define the development roadmap and design input parameters for application-specific standard solution sets in close cooperation with our R&D team.
Advise our B2B Marketing team on creating technical and application-specific content, such as whitepapers. You’ll also provide input for target account list development and help hone our ABM marketing messaging to better address the needs and pain points of our target accounts.
Help guide and train junior members of our Solutions Engineering team on proven methods to convert more opportunities faster. You’ll take the lead on minimizing pipeline drop-outs due to issues during customer testing and sampling.
Help improve and standardize processes for application engineering, customer-specific testing, and validation, as well as providing input in our B2B sales process.
While this role is not a territory or outside sales position, it does involve travel to trade shows and some customer sites in the U.Once you’ve obtained application specs from a target account, you’ll be helping them with product selection, testing and customization. You’ll then support these accounts throughout the validation and implementation stages until they’re ready to move to production. This involves connecting with our contract manufacturers in Asia to balance customer needs with product capabilities, manufacturability, and pricing. Once we’ve shipped sample units to the customer, you’ll closely work with them on testing the units. You’ll inspect and root cause failures and address these through making modifications and design adjustments.
Once a production standard design has been established, you’ll help our customers with final validation and arrange for any required certifications, as well as lifecycle, impact, temperature, ingress, or other final testing as per customer requests. You’ll then finalize the unit manufacturing documentation and requirements before handing the account off to the customer success/account management teams.
Until they place their first regular production order, you’ll be the main point of contact for the accounts you own. This includes follow-ups, nurturing and addressing any technical customer concerns that arise. You’ll also identify other unmet customer needs for additional actuators, controls, and ancillary products.
You’ll be supported by our B2B Customer Success Team who handles non-technical inquiries and standard day-to-day requests. They’ll take on tasks like arranging shipments as per your request, following up on orders and handling billing questions.
You’ll need to rapidly build effective relationships with customers, demonstrate attention to detail, efficiently resolve technical challenges and most importantly, listen to and understand customer needs and feedback.
~ Strong background in sales or application engineering, a flair for developing technical solutions and a passion for new client acquisition.
~5+ years of experience with linear or rotary motion, motion controls, motors or pneumatics/hydraulics to OEM accounts, ideally in the mobile machinery, agriculture/farming, or specialty vehicles markets. Technical qualification in automation technology, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mechatronics or a similar field, or equivalent vocational training. An understanding of communication protocols such as CAN Bus would be beneficial.
~ Very good English on a native speaker level, both written and spoken.
~ Familiarity with SolidWorks & Arduino coding.
~ Experience working with CRMs and sales enablement platforms, like HubSpot.
~ You can demonstrate that you’ve taken the time to read this job description by entering the name of one of our products into the “additional information” field on the job application.
Strong creative, analytical and data driven approach, and a desire to test and learn whenever possible.
Highly competitive compensation structure with uncapped, performance-based incentives. Visit our websites to learn more about us:
We thank all applicants in advance for their interest in working with Progressive Automations, however, only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
