This role is for youOur client, an established law firm in downtown Ottawa, is seeking a Personal Injury Law Clerk to join their growing team. If you have 5+ years of experience in the personal injury field, keep on readingAbout youTo be considered, you should have:5+ years of work experience as a Personal Injury Law ClerkCompletion of a law clerk program or diplomaStrong working knowledge of Rules of Civil Procedure (basic legal concepts, principles and terminology)Expert knowledge in the areas of Tort and Accident BenefitsExperience in using Microsoft Office, Document Management Software, PCLaw, Ghost Practice and/or SolunoThe ability to work closely and in collaboration with lawyers, other clerks, and staffExperience in working and reasoning independently on client filesStrong interpersonal skills to interact directly and professionally with counsel, legal professionals and clientsStrong time management skills (able to prioritize with minimal supervision) and organizational skills, a keen eye for detail, the ability to multi-taskSuperior attention to detailAbout the roleIf hired, you will:Able to manage matters from file opening to closingLiaise and communicate with clients and opposing counsel in a professional mannerPrepare and draft motion records, Statements of Claim, pre-trial/mediation memos, pleadings, affidavits of documents, Bills of Cost, Trial records, Claims, and other required documentsPrepare for examinations for discovery, case conferences, mediations, motions, appeals pre-trial conferences, trials, mediations/arbitrations and other hearingsManage administrative matters such as coordinating meetings, scheduling court appearances, processing correspondences with lawyers, clients and external professionalsInitiating the organization of and management of client files or parts of files – this will include managing electronic files through a document management systemPerks & BenefitsA comprehensive benefits package, extended medical benefits,Short- and long-term disability insuranceFirmwide team-building activities & social eventsEmployee assistance programLocated near the Parliament Station and easily accessible by transit Applied to this job already?
