Lead Mechanical Engineer Responsibilities include:

  • You will work directly with the Senior Management team in Toronto - work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Responsible for taking design projects from start to finish and applying a high level of technical, professional engineering and consulting expertise
  • Familiar with National, Provincial and Municipal Codes and Standards such as NFPA, OBC, CSA. Ensures the design documents meet established project criteria and applicable standards.
  • Experience in Design and hydraulic calculation of Fire protection systems (Sprinkler, standpipe, pre-action and clean agent suppression)
  • Participates in client management, business development and proposal preparation activities
  • Prepare engineering design including calculations, specification and drawings for the following building systems: HVAC, Plumbing Fire Protection and Fuel Systems
  • You will be responsible to manage certain aspects of project financial review and maintaining budget and meeting delivery milestones
  • Responsible for reviewing project construction and manage construction engineering correspondence.
  • Peer review junior engineers work
  • Develop and mentor a high performing team of junior staff

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
  • 7-9 years of related experience in a mechanical consulting engineering environment
  • Licensed Professional Engineer in Ontario (P. Eng.)
  • Rail experience is mandatory
  • Experience in fire protection and fuel systems is mandatory
  • LEED Accreditation and sustainable design experience are highly desirable qualifications
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Carrier Hourly Analysis Program (HAP) or Trane TRACE software, and Microsoft Office (word, excel, power point, outlook) are required
  • Proficiency with MEP Revit is highly desirable
  • Must have excellent leadership, organizational, communication and interpersonal skills with a strong desire and ability to collaborate and problem solve in an integrated team environment
