The A/R Specialist is an integral member of the accounting team and responsible for the overall accounts receivable activities of LandSolutions in Canada and US. The role is responsible for the timely collection and management of the accounts receivable collections portfolio of moderate to high profile accounts and will multitask and facilitate accounts receivable collections administrative and accounting operations.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Professional and timely handling of customer account inquiries.
  • Facilitate account collection discussions with customers; provide detailed customer reconciliations; statements as required resolving payment disputes.
  • Meet or exceed A/R performance goals and DSO targets as set by the organization.
  • Prepare and update AR aging report and lead AR meeting with different departments on a bi-weekly basis.
  • Develop and maintain a good relationship with clients.
  • Reconcile and problem solve high volume of transactions, source relevant back-up documentation, identify billing errors, customer visits to understand payment processing and/or financial problems, analyze the issues and provide solutions acceptable to both parties.
  • Work closely with operational leaders to solution customer compliance to payment terms while maintaining our brand and customer experience.
  • Maintain detailed follow-up notes in the system for each account.
  • Ensure EDI portals are set up correctly. Identify any issues with customer enrollment and provide solutions by engaging with the appropriate business partners.
  • Send out invoicing via EDI portals or email to clients.
  • Monitor integrated accounts daily (EDI) to ensure rejections are identified and solved promptly.
  • Support of preparing and processing of invoices
  • Support processing of AR cash receipts for all banks and currencies in ERP, ensuring reconciliation.

Competencies & Qualifications

  • The ideal candidate must be located in Calgary, AB with a hybrid work environment.
  • Diploma/Degree in Accounting or related filed desired.
  • Preferably, a minimum of 2 years of prior full-cycle AR experience including collections and cash application, ideally within a computerized A/R setting. However, candidates without prior experience are welcome to apply as training can be provided.
  • Thorough understanding of all aspects of collection, including account maintenance & reconciliation, collection of past due accounts, and financial statement analysis.
  • Prior experience using multiple client portals will be considered as an asset.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency, especially with MS Word and MS Excel (Look-up and Pivot Tables).
  • Effective and professional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Leverage superior customer service skills to build relationships with external and internal clients.
  • Organized, analytical, and detail-oriented with advanced problem-solving skills.
  • Critical thinker, ability to adapt different software and can work in a fast-paced environment.
