Job Description:

Parsons is seeking an Electrical Designer in their Markham office in Ontario to join the Rail and Transit group and to be part of team working on projects of Railway systems, Transit facilities, Municipal and/or various electrical upgrades etc.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experience in Building lighting, power and fire alarm systems is a must.
  • Work with senior engineer and provide markups to drafter.
  • Perform site survey and data collections, write electrical system condition assessment and propose upgrades.
  • Generate design of power/communication/security/fire alarm/grounding systems, and electrical details.
  • Write and edit project construction specifications.
  • Review shop drawings, equipment submittals, perform site observations, and punch lists
  • Coordinate on-site with the electrical contractor and perform field inspections and provide professional field support as necessary during construction phases.
  • Knowledge of zero mission building design

PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent work experience) is preferred, and typically 5+ years of related experience.
  • Proficient in the utilization of current electrical engineering theories and practicesand
  • Medium voltage experience

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Potential to perform in an engineering team, excellent written and oral communication skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are desired.
  • Experience on Rail and Transit and other municipal agencies of Ontario is desired.
  • Must be proficient in doing Voltage Drop Calculations, short circuit calculations and arc flash analysis calculations.
  • Strong background in AutoCAD, MicroStation and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is desired.
