Department of Historical Studies: Limited Term Assistant Professor

The Department of Historical Studies (previously the department of History and the department of Classics & Ancient History) at the University of New Brunswick, Fredericton campus, invites applications for a ten-month Limited Term Appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to commence on July 1, 2024, subject to final budgetary approval.
Applicants should have a completed PhD in History with research and teaching expertise in Atlantic Canada and/or the northern Atlantic World and have previous experience with graduate supervision. This position comes with a 3/2 teaching load and will include contributions to the department's graduate programs.
The successful candidate will join a dynamic department of excellent teachers and researchers with strengths in the histories of imperialism, colonialism, and slavery; war and society; intelligence and/or policing; gender and sexuality; health and disability; the environment; the Atlantic region. There may be opportunity to work with the department's scholarly periodical, Acadiensis: Journal of the History of the Atlantic Region . The University of New Brunswick is situated on unceded and unsurrendered Wolastoqey territory and is covered by the Peace and Friendship Treaties. Fredericton, a provincial capital, is located on the Wolastoq and is a vibrant city with diverse music and art scenes, extensive walking and cycling trails, many nature parks, and a historic downtown.
