Location: 24 Colonnade Road, Ottawa ONSchedule: Daytime, Monday to FridayStarting Salary: $74,098/yearWe are currently recruiting for an experienced Workplace Investigator to work full-time for our Commissionaires Ottawa headquarters.What you will be doing…You will be required to conduct multiple investigations simultaneously for several of our federal government clients, and resolve complex workplace issues and complaints.Some of your responsibilities include…Conduct investigations and maintain appropriate records in a confidential mannerDraft investigative interview summaries, within established timeframes, and submit them to the appropriate partiesPrepare and write complex Employee Relations / Human Resources investigative reports and summarize the findings with supporting documentation that is fair, impartial, and representative of the factsAnalyze the investigation’s results to determine whether the facts suggested a violation of policy and or legislationWhat’s in it for you?Work for a reputable and nationally known companyWork in a challenging and rewarding work environmentEmployer paid professional developmentA comprehensive benefits packageGenerous paid time off, holidays and sick daysRetirement plans with company matching of employee contributionsEmployee discount programs, social outings and holiday gatheringsYou’re a good fit if you have…A high level of maturity, professionalism, discretion and demonstrated impartialityExcellent oral and written communication skillsBilingualism (in French and English), this is considered an assetProven judgment and critical analysis skillsExperience in collaborating with others on complex investigationsDemonstrated experience in effectively managing a high-volume workload and complex prioritiesDemonstrated integrity and sensitivity to all culturesDemonstrated sound judgment in safeguarding confidential and sensitive informationYour must-haves:A minimum of five (5) years of experience providing workplace harassment and violence investigative services, within the last ten (10) yearsExperience with the principles and practices of investigation and research, including interview techniques, principles and procedures of record keeping and reporting, research techniques and data collectionInvestigative experience with the Federal Government Departments is required, therefore the applicant must be accredited and listed as a resource by Public Services and Procurement Canada, to conduct harassment investigations, pursuant to the National Master Standing Offer for “Investigative Services – Work Place Harassment and Violence.”Solid knowledge and understanding of the Ontario Human Rights code, and relevant Canadian Labour and Employment Law, including but not limited to the Canada Labour Code Part II (specifically Bill C-65 42-1), the Ontario Labour Relations Act, the Employment Standards Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), OH&S Regulations Part XX-Violence Prevention in the WorkplaceProven ability to thoroughly collect and synthesize information obtained through interviews and researchExperience in proposing recommendations based on the investigation findingsExperience collecting, analyzing and interpreting information received from investigationsExperience conducting interviews with Complainants, Respondents and WitnessesAn Enhanced Reliability level Security Clearance or the ability to successfully obtain oneAre willing to travel when requiredYour Education:Post-secondary education with a focus on Human Resources and/or Employment Law and/or Industrial Psychology and/or Private InvestigationsProfessional designation (i.e CHRP, CHRL, LLB, Private Investigator), is considered an assetTraining in Administrative Investigative Techniques, Canadian Human Rights Law and Canadian Labour Law and Employment lawCertified training in any relevant field is required, such as: Arbitration, ADR/conciliation, cross-cultural/diversity, counselling/coaching, sociology, industrial psychology, ethical reasoning, self-management, occupational health & safety, harassment and violence prevention, mental health, domestic violence, cyberbullying, or legalStill interested?DON’T WAIT Send your resume today A member of our Human Resources team will contact all suitable candidates of interest.NOTE: Only those candidates that meet the specified requirements will be considered for this position.
