Our client is a not-for-profit based in the Fraser Valley. We are looking for an Interim CEO to join their team. Our client’s mandate greatly helps people in need within the lower mainland of BC. This is a chance for an individual to use their leadership skills to change an organization for the better, while at the same time supporting local communities.

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Interim CEO will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for not-for-profit staff, programs, operations and execution of its mission. This will include executing the Strategic Plan, as drafted by the Board of Directors, to inform all operations and leadership decisions. There is a chance for this position to become permanent.

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure ongoing operational excellence, rigorous program evaluation, and consistent quality of finance and administration, human resources, communications, and systems.
  • Oversee the management of all operations, including accounting, administration and HR.
  • Recommend timelines and resources needed to achieve the strategic goals, as outlined by the Board of Directors.
  • Actively engage and energize not-for-profit staff and stakeholders.
  • Create and foster a culture of positivity and strong work ethic.
  • Develop relationships with board members and communicate key leadership decisions, as outlined by the strategic plan.
  • Attend monthly board meetings and certain board committee meetings.
  • Seek and build board involvement with strategic decision making.
  • Lead, coach, develop, and manage a high-performing management team.
  • Ensure effective systems to track progress and financials and regularly evaluate program components, while effectively communicating to the board and funders.
  • Provide recommendations on how to diversify the organization’s funding streams.
  • Build partnerships with government and adjacent not-for-profits to further the organization’s mandate.
  • Incorporate high-level feedback into operations, service delivery and management.
  • Represent the organization at industry events and functions.
  • Partner with HR to promote professional hiring and personnel management practices.
  • Lead quality control initiatives in conjunction with managers.

Qualifications:

  • Proven senior level leadership experience. We are open to professionals from both not-for-profit and private industries.
  • At least 7-10 years of experience at a senior management level, preferably at the CEO, Executive Director or Vice President level, with a strong focus on people management and operations.
  • Advanced degree, preferably an MBA.
  • Experience managing budgets of at least $5-10 million.
  • Past success working with a board of directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships.
  • Strong experience in operations, finance and risk management, combined with excellent communication skills and a proven track record in implementing strategies and strategic plans.
  • Ability to organize effectively and delegate responsibility, including problem solving and clear communication.
  • Direct experience and/or a strong appreciation of government relations.
  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.
  • Empathy, compassion and demonstrated commitment to collaboration, well-being and concern for all in the workplace.
  • Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.
