The Specialist also performs administrative duties related to volunteer management and engagement.What You’ll Be DoingAssessment and Strategy Creation: Work closely with the Director, People, Culture and Volunteer Engagement to review and assess Parkinson Canada’s current volunteer engagement program.Assist with the creation and implementation of a Volunteer Engagement Strategy that aligns with the strategic direction of Parkinson Canada.Recruitment:Responsible for national recruitment of Parkinson Canada volunteersDevelops targeted and innovative strategies for recruitment that meet volunteer needs across the organizationWork closely with volunteer managers to support coordinated recruitment effortsShare volunteer postings on LinkedIn, Indeed, Charity Village and other recruitment sites and pursue other opportunities for recruitmentSchedule and conduct phone screens with potential volunteersComplete screening and onboarding process including interviews, reference checks, and police checks as applicableEnsure mandatory trainings such as the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and Violence and Harassment in the Workplace are completed for all volunteersEnsure volunteers have appropriate access to role-specific and other trainingCollaborate with the human resources team to share effective recruitment strategiesCollaborate with colleagues across the organization to apply an equity, diversity, inclusion and justice framework to volunteer engagementMaintain relationships with community organizations to ensure the selection of the most qualified candidates, with a focus on equity, diversity, inclusion and justiceKeep up-to-date on equity, diversity and inclusion strategies for recruitment and retentionRecognition:Review and assess Parkinson Canada’s current volunteer recognition practices.Create and oversee an organizational recognition program for volunteers that is inclusive of both internal and external recognition opportunities.Administration: Assist with cleanup and maintenance of digital volunteer filesMaintain and update digital reportsMonitor and maintain the volunteer@ email addressTrack and file volunteer data including confidential and private informationProvide general assistance to volunteer and staff inquiriesDigital Transformation: Administrate the volunteer engagement platformRespond to new volunteer profiles/applications in a timely mannerCreate and deliver volunteer engagement platform training and resource materials for staff and volunteersAssist with the collection and presentation of digital data for reporting purposesPolicies:Work with the Director, People, Culture and Volunteer Engagement to review and update volunteer policies, such as the Volunteer HandbookCommunicate changes to policies to staff and volunteersQualificationsMinimum 4 years’ experience in a non-profit or charitable organization in a volunteer coordination, management or HR engagement capacityDemonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment, retention and recognitionDemonstrated record of supporting volunteers to increase or enhance engagementExperience collaborating with volunteer managers, including providing ongoing support and trainingExperience with a digital volunteer engagement platform or constituent relationship management systemAble to apply equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks to volunteer engagementExcellent communication, writing and presentation skillsCommitment to learning about Parkinson’s disease and engaging with the Parkinson’s communityProven ability to set priorities and have sound judgement and problem-solving skillsHigh level of professionalism and discretionExperience with Microsoft Office is an assetCollege diploma or Certificate in Volunteer Management is an assetParkinson Canada will provide accommodations throughout the recruitment and selection and/or assessment process to applicants with disabilities.
