The VSB Grounds Department is looking for casual labourers available for year-round and seasonal work assignments.
The Grounds Maintenance Department is concerned with the maintenance and construction of all school board facilities from the site buildings to the sidewalks. This includes all lawn and garden areas, sport fields, playgrounds, fencing, underground services and all asphalt areas. This constitutes year round support programs and includes seasonal extremes such as snow and excessive rainfall.
Employees may be required to move from site to site during the workday. Staff are required to communicate with school principals, school staff and students to ensure minimal disruption to the learning environment. Class 5 driver's license is an asset
Landscaping experience is an asset
Grounds Maintenance – assists truck drivers to load, unload and deliver a variety of materials and equipment; mixes and pours concrete; constructs, maintains, repairs and lays our sports field and associated fixtures and equipment; breaks concrete, moves and removes sand.
Material Services - moves and stores boxes, furniture, equipment and tools; arranges furniture as directed; assists truck drivers to load, unload and deliver a variety of materials and equipment; sets up and breaks down loan equipment and furniture; Maintenance & Construction – assists journeymen in structural construction work; assists with delivering, handling and preparing job sites; breaks concrete, move and removes sand.
