The Town of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove is hiring a seasonal labourer to work on a casual “call-in” basis. This is a unionized position (NAPE) with a pay scale of $25.02/hour. Most importantly, as a unionized position, the employee accrues important seniority for future positions. A mandatory period of probation is required (as outlined in the collective agreement with unionized employees).

Qualifications:

Seasonal labourers must have a minimum of grade 12 or a high school equivalency program (except existing employees or those exempted by the employer at the time of hire), must be in good physical health, must be capable of assisting with routine repairs and maintenance, underground infrastructure, and do general labour work as required. Seasonal labourers must possess (and maintain) a valid driver’s licence and be able to be insured and maintain insurance under the town’s general liability insurance policies, as well as be able to produce (and maintain) a Certificate of Conduct and a V ulnerable Sector Check . Seasonal labourers must also have completed (or be willing to complete) the basic flagging course for traffic maintenance and safety in construction zones.

General Duties and Requirements:

Labourers must be fit and capable of doing heavy lifting, pick and shovel work, and a variety of other labour-related duties. General labour work (including collection of household garbage and recycling) is required. A detailed job description will be provided upon request.
