Location: Toronto – hybrid – onsite 2-3/week Required within GTA

Contract Duration: 6 months, possibility of extension

Business group: IWM Advisor & Client Solutions The Data Product Owner – Business Platforms & Experience contributes to the overall success of International Wealth Management organization (IWM) strategy, by enabling a common data platform for all wealth applications, and International Wealth Management in resolving complex business and data issues.

Project:

This is a demanding hands-on role which requires the incumbent to be knowledgeable of the data architecture, managing highly complex projects, specific to data, and has in-depth experience collaborating with multi-jurisdictional teams. The incumbent should have the ability to develop recommendations, propose solutions, and define functional requirements, in collaboration with business, tech, and various other partners. Additionally, should be highly analytical and have a good understanding of databases, technical architecture, and query tools, with previous experience in wealth management or capital markets or related domains.

This role will be focused on acceleration of IWM’s data & analytics transformation, particularly on implementing a Wealth Data Hub; build a data platform that consolidates information structured by relevant domains such as clients, portfolio, and performance, enabling Advisor and Client experience across IWM.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the definition of the International Wealth Management data hub strategy and roadmap to drive specific operational data capabilities.
  • Work collectively with the Business Platforms and Experience team to articulate business requirements into system requirements for new enhancements or projects.
  • Responsible and accountable for the business requirements/specifications to be complete, correct, consistent, concise, and achievable.
  • Collaborate with head office and in-country business partners to Document, analyze, research, and define user and system requirements and features relating to strategic data projects/initiatives. Develop and deliver Business Requirements Documents, source-to-target data mapping, data specifications, User stories, as required.
  • Document data transformation and cleansing rules for data migration. Previous expertise with Data warehousing projects.
  • Provide expertise on systems gap analysis and potential risks/issues on projects, enhancements, and initiatives.
  • Acts as a liaison between business and IT to provide technical solutions to meet user needs. Present recommendations with technology teams, collaborating on system design, and understanding process, database structures, and Data Model.
  • Responsible for reviewing and analyzing end-to-end testing results for data projects.
  • Manage communications and status reporting of ongoing initiatives, including summarizing project risks and options and facilitating prompt decisions when needed.
  • Provide expertise on relational and dimensional data modelling.
  • Provide the team expertise on data models such as star and snowflake schemas.
  • Proficiency in SQL is a must have.

Must Haves:

  • 10+ years of experience in big data analysis, data engineering , or data architecture field
  • 8-10 years in experience in relational databases and SQL ; ability to run complex queries independently.
  • Hands on experience in big data tools and technologies, as well as data visualization and reporting tools such as PowerBI .
  • Strong knowledge of data governance , data quality , and data security best practices.
  • Experience in working with cloud-based data platforms, preferably Google Cloud Platform .

Nice-To-Have Skills:

  • Full proficiency in Spanish
  • Relevant working experience in the financial sector, Wealth Management, or capital markets experience, in data projects.

Education:

Post-Secondary education and Advanced degree preferred but not mandatory in data analytics.

Best VS. Average Candidate:

The ideal candidate would have previous banking* experience or wealth management initiatives experience. Has led/managed a team of Data analysts / Data engineers in his recent position.
