POSITION SUMMARY

We are currently seeking a Senior Estimator to join our team. The Senior Estimator will be responsible for evaluating bid specifications and drawings, ensuring that all required information is obtained to successfully bid and win the project. You will work closely with the VP of Estimating in developing Construction Management, Design/Build and Tender opportunities. In addition, you will participate in the creation of proposals while continually developing effective relationships with architects, consultants, and sub-contractors.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Analyze plans, specifications, design drawings and related documentation to ascertain precise scope of work, leaving no details unchecked
  • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with clients and consultants, ensuring clarity on any missing information, while adeptly analyzing inherent risks and uncovering potential opportunities within the tender
  • Review designs and specifications meticulously, identifying opportunities for cost effectiveness, and proposing viable alternatives to enhance project value
  • Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and estimations for prospective projects, ensuring accuracy and reliability in forecasting project costs
  • Compile comprehensive budgets reflective of project requirements and objectives, ensuring alignment with current costs and maintaining an updated costing database
  • Evaluate quotations from various trades, leveraging your expertise to make informed decisions that optimize project outcomes
  • Collaborate in the development of proposal documents
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior estimators, fostering their professional development and nurturing a culture of continuous learning and growth within the team

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma Civil Engineering, Building Technology or Quantity Surveying
  • Proven experience in a senior estimating role within the construction industry
  • Ability to comprehend tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with an understanding of contractual requirements
  • Detailed understanding of all construction scopes of work
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment
  • Leadership qualities with a passion for mentorship and team development
