Job Title: Senior Estimator

Our client, a respected General Construction Contractor based in Vancouver, is currently seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their dynamic team. This established company specializes in various sectors including new construction (wood-frame and concrete residential, commercial, institutional), restoration/building envelope tenders, and tenant improvement projects.

Responsibilities

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for:

  • Developing detailed cost estimates for new construction (wood-frame and concrete residential, commercial, institutional), restoration/building envelope tenders, and tenant improvement projects.
  • Conducting detailed analysis of drawing and specifications to prepare a comprehensive bill of materials.
  • Evaluating and presenting or reporting on financial risks for each project.
  • Coordinating and liaising with project stakeholders including architects, engineers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Participating in tender review meetings and providing insights on cost estimates.
  • Maintaining a database of standard costs, as well as monitoring actual project costs relative to bids as the project develops.
  • Preparing and maintaining a directory of suppliers, contractors, and subcontractors.
  • Leading negotiations with suppliers and subcontractors for various project-related items.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have:

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as an Estimator in the construction industry, with a focus on new construction, restoration/building envelope tenders, and tenant improvement projects.
  • A degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
  • A proven track record of creating accurate and competitive cost estimates for complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, regulations, and industry trends.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Strong proficiency with estimating software and other construction-related software tools.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with high attention to detail.
