STAFF LAWYER
Timmins, ON The Staff Lawyer is under the direction, and reports to the Director of Legal Services. The Staff Lawyer is responsible for providing high quality legal services to Nishnawbe-Aski Nation community members and complies with necessary reporting and legislative requirements. The Staff Lawyer is responsible for providing legal services in accordance with the NAN Legal mandate, vision, mission, and principles.
Qualifications:
•Must be a lawyer, called to the Bar in Ontario, with relevant experience in Criminal law, Familylaw, and administrative matters and understanding of Indigenous law and justice.
•Must have a membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
•Excellent case and file management skills, administrative and coordination skills, stressmanagement and time management skills, ability to meet deadlines.
•Ability to engage people to build trust and rapport; effective verbal and listening communicationskills specifically in conflict resolution and nonviolent crisis intervention; excellent interviewing andcounselling skills.
•Experience working within the Canadian legal system and knowledge of Indigenous justice issueswould be an asset.
•Proficient working knowledge of SharePoint/PeopleSoft, MS Office Software, Internet, and generaloffice equipment
•knowledge of the legal resources in the community for individuals, youth, and families
•Ability to speak the language or knowledge of NAN First Nation languages an asset.

Location: Timmins, ON
Hours: Full Time (35 Hours Per Week)
Salary: In accordance with established pay grid and commensurate with education/experience
