Backed by a fifth-generation family-owned company, Spicers is a leading distributor of commercial print and business papers, specialty products, graphic solutions, sign & display equipment and materials, and packaging and facility supplies and equipment.We’re based in Vaughan, Ontario, with 15 regional locations that include custom manufacturing facilities in Edmonton, Toronto and Winnipeg, as well as cash and carry locations, product showrooms and equipment demo sites.We are currently looking for a full-time Director or Vice President of Marketing, reporting directly to the President. Salary and job title will commensurate with experience. Your Challenge:Under the supervision of the President, the duties and responsibilities of the Director or Vice President of Marketing include, but are not limited to, the following:Set strategic marketing goals that complement the organization’s growth priorities.Develop and implement a cohesive marketing plan to meet the strategic goals.Increase company and brand awareness and drive customer engagement using multiple platforms. Create content strategies based on business objectives and audience segments across all channels (digital/print/social).Participate in the company’s annual strategic planning process.Develop strategies to enhance brand positioning and be able to identify and execute branding expansion opportunities effectively.Develop and implement an ecommerce strategy to increase online sales and improve website performance and impact.Build brand awareness and generate innovative ideas to promote partner and private label products.Supervise our brand management process to ensure consistent application and use.Oversee the management of ecommerce data and workflow to ensure an ease of shopping experience for our customers. Work directly with web and software developers to ensure site integrity consistent with company strategy and objectives. Set the marketing department’s annual budget. Manage and approve all marketing expenses. Build and lead a high-performing marketing team in creating impactful campaigns and driving brand awareness while ensuring effective coordination with internal and external resources.Oversee the day-to-day actives of the marketing department, approval of all creative work, and ensure that their activities are prioritized in conjunction with our company’s long term success.Work closely with product segment management to contribute to the growth through relevant marketing tools and impactful segment initiatives. Mobilize other shared services departments to support marketing strategies. Work with external partners to identify new opportunities for Spicers to enhance overall marketing effectiveness. Understand industry and market dynamics and customers strategic priorities. Manage quantifiable metrics to measure campaign effectiveness. Prepare regular internal reports and presentations on marketing plans and metrics. Conduct marketing research and analysis to identify challenges and opportunities for growth. Represent the organization and serve as a brand ambassador for the organization at conventions, promotional events and industry functions.Support and provide guidance to organize effective marketing events. Consistently demonstrate the Spicers core guiding principles and fulfill the Spicers leadership pledge. Other duties as required.Your Qualifications:Post-secondary degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications or a related field; an MBA or advanced degree is preferred.Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in marketing, with at least 5 years in a leadership role, preferably within a related industry such as commercial print, business papers, or specialty products.Proven track record of developing and executing successful marketing strategies and campaigns.Extensive experience in brand management.Strong understanding of ecommerce strategies, digital marketing, content creation and multi-channel marketing.Demonstrated ability to manage and optimize marketing budgets and resources effectively.Experience working with web software developers to enhance online presence and functionality.Excellent leadership skills with the ability to build, mentor and manage high-performing teams.Proficient in analyzing marketing metrics and translating data into actionable insights and strategies.Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written.Strong organizational and project management skills.Industry knowledge and understanding of paper manufacturing, paper distribution, graphic products, printing processes, sign and display or industrial supplies and packaging considered an asset.Punctual, dependable, and reliable.Self-directed and self-motivated.Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.Working Conditions:Able to work on a computer for numerous hours which may result in strain on wrists, eyes, back, etc.Ability to work in a busy, open area office.May have to spend long hours in concentration which requires attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.This position faces a number of deadlines which may cause significant stress.Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work; andThis position may require occasional travel to various locations.Spicers Canada ULC is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes all interested parties.
