Working closely with the Registered Dietitian and other members of the healthcare team to provide nutritional care to low and moderate risk patients. Services provided include patient visitation, nutrition screening/assessment, teaching/education, data collection, preference/allergy monitoring, food record collection/calculation and special projects. You will act as a liaison between Dietetics, patients/families, acute/chronic care medical units and the Nutrition Services department for the provision of patient-centered nutritional care. The Diet Technician is also responsible for collecting, assessing, and inputting patient specific information into the Computrition-Hospitality Suite software to ensure the provision of appropriate and accurate patient specific meals, consistent with the diet order prescribed.

Successful completion of a CSNM accredited diploma program for Dietetic Technician/Nutrition and Food Service Management (or equivalent) or a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Human Nutrition/Food and Nutritional Sciences. Note completion of a Bachelor’s degree is highly preferred
Current membership in the Canadian Society of Nutrition Management (CSNM)-or eligibility to obtain upon hire
Previous experience in a hospital setting is an asset
Clinical nutrition knowledge in the management of disease
Demonstrated knowledge of and/or experience with the development and application of nutrition care plans in various patient populations preferred/is an asset
Demonstrated administrative and computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets and familiarity with applications specializing in Nutrition and Foodservices (i.e. Experience with electronic health records preferred
