As a Summer Day Camp Counsellor you will be working in a fast-paced, creative environment focused on delivering active, safe and fun programs for children to develop their skills, while meeting new friends.

We’re looking for enthusiastic individuals who enjoy working with children and are:

  • Self-motivated & take initiative 
  • Great communicators with the ability to work with people of all ages
  • Highly organized

Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Leadership, instruction and supervision of children participating in week long day camps
  • Create an active, safe and stimulating environment for all participants to develop social skills and general well-being
  • Design and implementation of day camp programs for children
  • Preparation of equipment and supplies used for camps
  • Attend all staff meetings and orientation
  • Wear the appropriate uniform (staff t-shirts) daily
  • Provide feedback and suggestions to program administrators on how to improve the program and any new activities you would like to see included

Job Standards & Requirements:

Education:

Post-Secondary Education

Trinity Western University Student

Certifications:

  • Emergency First-aid and CPR – Required (can be attained prior to summer if need be)
  • Police Record Check - Required

Qualifications

  • Strong leadership, organization and communication skills
  • The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public
  • Experience in specific skills such as soccer, volleyball, basketball, rugby, ropes course climbing and belaying, bouldering, voyageur canoeing, and wilderness risk management
  • Educated in science, theatre, dance, music, art
  • Previous experience working with children
  • Teaching or Coaching experience an asset
