Who Are We Looking For?Our Engineering Design Organization (EDO) is looking for an engaged, capable individual who is committed to continuous improvement to tackle the role of Intermediate Instrumentation & Controls Engineer based out of one of our Western Canada offices. Key Responsibilities:- Plan and be responsible for the delivery of instrumentation and controls (I&C) systems designs in a multi-disciplinary environment
- Support the preparation of proposals and bids for projects, developing or verifying the technical scope of a project, and developing design and construction fees
- Provide design, engineering, and creative solutions to fit the needs of our clients and communities, as well as client specifications and industry codes and standards
- Coordinate the work of the team, mentoring less experienced team members
- Fulfill the I&C systems engineering needs for a wide variety of industrial and municipal clients
- Participate in a multi-disciplinary environment in determining the instrumentation, controls, and process automation requirements
- Develop detailed engineering packages to represent installation requirements for process control systems and instrumentation
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility
- Technical review and quality control of design drawings and documents. Professional sealing of technical documents.
- Provide commissioning and start-up support for projects in the construction phase, representing the firm and supervising systems integration activities
- Travel to fabrication sites, installation sites, and client facilities as needed. Participation in client meetings as needed.
- Coordinate control system designs with other engineering disciplines (process, mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, vendors, and outside design team members)
- Provide direction to and coordination with internal designers/drafting team
8+ years of instrumentation and controls engineering design experience. Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent education. P. Eng. designation. Strong working knowledge of P&IDs, instrumentation and control systems design (PLC/PAC/RTU/DCS/HMI/SCADA), networking, process automation, etc. Familiarity with instrumentation used to measure and control flow, temperature, pressure, level, and analytical properties as well as relevant codes and standards. Positive attitude, good interpersonal skills, and validated time management and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability in proposal preparation, budget control, performance analysis, and contract management. Strong understanding of contractual agreements, accurate record-keeping, and documentation.
