Who we are 

The BC Community Alliance (BCCA) is a local Black-led, community-based, organization, formed in 2019 and registered as a non-profit in 2020, dedicated to addressing the structural inequities created by racism, especially anti-Black racism, within education settings in British Columbia. The organization was born out of a crisis in our community, following a racist bomb threat at a Vancouver high school, Lord Byng Secondary, and recognizing the broad harm that occurred not only to Black students in the school but also felt within the broader community, especially other Black community members. 

Although the 'Lord Byng incident' was a foundational moment in the formation of the BC Community Alliance, we are more accurately understood as a response to the racism that is felt by many racialized students.

Who we’re looking for

BC Community Alliance (BCCA) is seeking a creative and results-driven Marketing Specialist to join our team. This role is pivotal in developing and executing marketing strategies to promote our products/services and enhance brand visibility. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of strategic thinking, analytical skills, and creativity to drive successful marketing campaigns across various channels.

What you’ll do

  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop comprehensive marketing strategies aligned with business objectives
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape
  • Assist in defining target audiences and developing messaging strategies to effectively reach and engage potential customers
  • Support the planning and execution of multi-channel marketing campaigns, including digital, social media, email, and traditional marketing channels
  • Create compelling content for marketing materials, including advertisements, social media posts, blog articles, and email campaigns
  • Coordinate with internal teams and external vendors to ensure timely delivery of marketing materials and assets
  • Manage digital marketing initiatives, including website content management, SEO, SEM, and social media marketing
  • Develop and implement social media strategies to increase BCCA’s brand awareness, engagement, and follower growth
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, messages, and inquiries, and engage with the audience to foster positive relationships
  • Maintain brand consistency across all marketing materials and communication channels
  • Assist in the development and implementation of brand positioning, messaging, and visual identity
  • Prepare regular reports on marketing performance, including key metrics, insights, and recommendations for improvement
  • Present findings, updates, and recommendations to leadership as needed
  • Other duties as assigned 

 What you bring

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Proven experience in marketing, with a focus on digital marketing and campaign management
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, analyze trends, and draw actionable insights
  • Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms, including Google Analytics, social media management tools, and email marketing software
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling content and messaging
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a passion for staying up-to-date with industry trends and best practices
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
