Investment Analyst I Description:The Canadian Segment Legacy & Inforce Management team focuses on Portfolio Optimization, one of key strategic priorities, as well as Inforce Management. The team is responsible for identifying opportunities and executing initiatives to improve the value of inforce blocks. The team’s mandate is to improve the Canadian Segment ROE, generate free capital, reduce risk, and improve remittances for the company. The ongoing management of inforce business is the other primary focus of the team.Reporting to the Director of Canadian Legacy & Inforce Management, the Investment Analyst is responsible for the daily updating of administrative systems with Retail and Institutional pricing files, various rates, index values and stock prices accurately in a time sensitive environment. The incumbent is the key contact for stakeholders when issues related to interest rate crediting arise, which happens quite frequently.Responsibilities:Gather a variety of financial inputs (government and corporate bond yields, FX rates, equity index values, stock prices, mutual fund values, seg fund values, etc.) from various sources on a daily basis, validating accuracy within defined thresholds and investigating issuesRun and upload all Universal Life crediting rates to administrative systems, supporting client-level rate-crediting for over $8B of assets under management, validating accuracy of all calculated rates within defined thresholds and investigating / reporting issues.Validate accuracy of the upload of rates to 7 administrative systemsPrepare Weekly and Monthly Marketing materials relating to all crediting rates calculated and ensure materials are posted to advisor and client facing outletsSupport a number of additional adhoc / manual processes, including data gathering, rate calculation, reporting, etc. for departmental, cross-departmental, and external stakeholdersAct as a liaison between stakeholders for any delays or issues.Support team members with training, scheduling, processing issues, etc., and perform validation of their work as required.Ability to manage multiple deliverables in a dynamic work environment where the timing of data availability changes day to day.Identify opportunities to improve operational efficiencies.Support vendor managementPerform internal testing, quality assurance, and other auditing functions to ensure the integrity of department processing and workflowFacilitate problem solving and remedial action by collaborating with internal stakeholdersManage the document and procedure library, ensuring that procedures and job aids are accurate, up to date.Qualifications:University or college degree in Computer Science, Finance or Mathematics, or comparable education preferred.At least 1 year of experience in a related field.Exposure to Financial Services environment/industry will be highly regarded and advantageous in this position.React quickly and meet tight deadlines maintaining accuracy and thoroughness.Great attention to detail.Strong data gathering, analytical and problem-solving skills.Strong verbal and written communication skills.Ability to adapt quickly and easily to changes within the business.Ability to work independently or in a team environment.Excellent organization, planning and time management skills.Moderate Microsoft Excel and macro skills.Ability to work overtime hours is a necessity.
