Primary Purpose: The aim of the Canadian Mother-Child Cohort (CAMCCO) Active Surveillance initiative is to quantify the benefits and risks of medication use during pregnancy for mothers and children. This position will be responsible for SAS coding and statistical analysis, and will be a critical part of provincial and national research teams.
Nature of Work: The position reports to the principal investigator within the Department of Community Health and Epidemiology. The position will provide expert-level SAS coding and statistical analysis to support the development of a longitudinal pregnancy cohort using provincial administrative and clinical datasets accessible through Saskatchewan’s Data Warehouse. The position will establish and maintain a level of professional relationships that supports collaboration with members of the broader research network across several provinces. The position will work from an office within the Health Quality Council in Saskatoon, and may eventually transition to a virtual office. The position handles confidential data and work is subject to applicable ethical codes of conduct and privacy legislation. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in specialty training sessions (CAMCCO-Learning) to advance their skills and knowledge within the field of perinatal epidemiology.
Linking multiple datasets and mother and child health records to create a provincial longitudinal pregnancy cohort;
Conducting careful quality checks on new variables;
Performing statistical analysis using a variety of methods (e.g. survival and regression analysis, GIS, GEE models);
Communicating statistical analyses and results;
Developing and maintaining effective relationships to build strong virtual teams;
Providing technical assistance and advice in the application of statistical methods and interpretation of results;
Attending regular virtual meetings with the provincial and national teams.
Education:  MSc degree in Biostatistics, Epidemiology, or related field.
Experience:  Significant experience and advanced level working knowledge of statistical software and programming languages (SAS required). Experience leading analyses within a provincial data access centre is an asset. Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary research teams and in the areas of maternal child health and pharmacoepidemiology is an asset.
Advanced statistical programming and analysis;
Ability to work with multiple types of data sources including administrative health and clinical data;
Ability to multi-task in order to handle simultaneous projects and to meet deadlines;
